Im so happy for you both. You worked tirelessly against all odds and started a massive campaign that ended up not only helping yourself, but many others as well. Many people with leukemia have organized drives, but Ive never heard of anyone who got so many drives organized, and so many people registered! Im so impressed with all of your efforts and the efforts of your family/friends.

After reading about your story, I got myself registered and started spreading the word and got others registered as well. I hope that people continue to hold drives, as there are many others asians/south asians still waiting to find their match

It is a very good news that a match (and a willing donor) has been found. All the best to Vinay and his family. I had a chance to chat with Vinay's father during the drive at Santa Clara Convention Center. For me, it was very inspiring to talk with him. I could relate to his feelings very easily. My mother was diagnosed with CML a few months back and I had just returned back to US after visiting her. I am very thankful to him for comforting me with some encouraging words.

I hope and pray that the transplant goes well and Vinay comes back as healthy as he was. He is already very wealthy with such a wonderful group of friends and wellwishers with him!!!

When I registered with the bone marrow registry recently, I was hoping and praying I would be a match for you. Today I feel so happy to know that you have found a match - I had tears in my eyes. I did not know anything about bone marrow donation until your campaign was started - You have done a great service to the south asians. I also was not aware that I could have donated my children's umbilical cords (as I was not storing them) - we should also educate the gynaecologists to atleast mention this option to patients and make the aware of this. I regret not having donated those umbilical cords. I wish this transplant all the success and wish you and Rashmi a wonderful future ahead!

Ur words gave me tht little push I needed to go & register at the marrow donation registry last month. I have often felt the pain of ppl tht were battling these diseases, but always took a step back about registering thinking who wud come help me raise my 2 yr old, if I had to stay in bed for a while.

Ur words tht the pain the patients endure is nothing compared to wht the donor will go thru - were soo touching & eye-opening. I went in and registered the very week after I read tht message of urs, and since then, have been hoping one of us wud be ur match. I am soo glad u found a match Vinay :) Cannot express my joy on this.

God is just great, he had to get this mission started and he couldnt' think of any better people than you guys, You guys are just perfect , somebody had to drive the whole community together and you guys did it.

I do remember feeling very dejected when I read that one of your match was not willing to donate the stem cell for some family constraints. However, I wrote to you, that please don't let this incident shake your belief of humanity -- they are many others who will be willing , rather honored to be a donor. I am so glad that my words came true.
I hope your finding a match and moving a big step towards recovery will encourage us to register for the bone marrow drive even more. We have to find a mtach for Sameer and hundreds of others who are waiting. Our journey has just begun.
