Others In Need

By registering with the marrow donor program, you not only have the chance to help Vinay, but many others in critical situations. A simple cheek swab enters you into the registry and if you are a match you will be contacted for donating your blood.

Below are a few of the sons, daughters, mothers, fathers, husbands and wives who need our help. There are over 6,000 people who need bone marrow everyday.

Eve

Two year old Eve is an adorable little girl. Like any parent, Eve’s mom and dad envisioned a bright and promising future for their daughter. Then disaster struck: Eve was diagnosed with acute leukemia. A bone marrow transplant can save Eve’s life, but she currently does not have a matching donor, and time is of the essence.

Help Michelle

Hello Friends,

It has been just 6 weeks since we lost Vinay. There are no words to describe what we are feeling. But there is one thing we wanted to tell you. Our family is close to a young couple who you may have heard of: Michelle and Van. Michelle is another young Bay Area woman with leukemia (AML) who is urgently searching for a match. We know that Vinay was committed to helping her, and we are also dedicated to helping her with her search. It is what Vinay would have wanted. We ask you to help us spread the word to register, and in Vinay's memory please attend one of the drives listed on the right side of this page. Help us to help Michelle.

With much love
Bharath & Sonia, Hema and Partha Chakravarthy

Urmi

URGENT!!!

Right NOW Urmi, a 5 year old girl, is in desperate need of Platelet transfusions. If you are in the L.A. area, visit the Childrens Hospital of L.A. (www.childrenshospitalla.org) and indicate your donation is specifically for Urmi.

There is a severe shortage of Blood and Blood Products in the United States and worldwide. Many patients with Leukemia and other blood disorders need large amounts of Blood, Platelets and other Blood Products. Please locate your local hospital or red cross (www.givelife.org) to donate this valuable gift.

Urmi is a sweet, beautiful and shy girl who just turned five. Unfortunately she has been diagnosed with Aplastic Anemia. In spite of her health condition Urmi is a fun and loving 5 year old girl. She plays with her dolls and watches TV. She loves to watch Mahabharata and stories about Krishna in Gujarati. Urmi has been in and out of the hospital so much that now she always wants to present medical reports to the doctor, pretending to be a nurse. With your help Urmi may really have a chance of becoming a nurse or even a doctor. What would you do? Would you give her the gift of life? Please help Urmi find her marrow match. Register today!

Rohan

Rohan Karer is an 18 month old boy who has a rare primary immune deficiency called X-linked Hyper IGM syndrome. The only permanent cure for this deficiency is a bone marrow transplant. Until Rohan receives this life saving transplant, he must go to the hospital every 3 weeks for IVIG infusions to build his immunities. In addition, he has been hospitalized multiple times to fight infections that couldn’t be prevented by using IVIG alone. Due to Rohan’s condition, outside activities and interaction with others is extremely limited. Some of Rohan’s hobbies include playing with his cousin, dancing, being in water, and playing with his toys.

Anand

Anand's picture is a perfect example of the idea that looks can be deceiving. Here he looks happy and playful and it is hard to accept that he is a 21 month old boy who has been recently diagnosed with AML. Anand loves playing catch with his brother and spending time outdoors. He, like all AML patients, needs a matched transplant and must rely on the compassion of volunteer marrow/blood cell donors to be cured of this dreaded disease. We need to recruit as many potential donors as possible to provide Anand and all other patients with a second chance at life.

Leena

Leena is a 28 year old mother of one who is in urgent need of a marrow/blood cell transplant. She was diagnosed in September 2005 and has been on a strict medical regiment, but her greatest chance of survival is from a marrow/blood cell transplant.
